Past Perfect Tense adalah bentuk waktu lampau dalam bahasa Inggris yang menunjukkan suatu aksi atau kejadian yang terjadi sebelum waktu tertentu di masa lampau.
Bentuk umum dari Past Perfect Tense adalah "had + verb 3 (past participle)".
Rumus Past Perfec Tense adalah:
(+) Subjek + had + verb 3 (past participle).
(-) Subjek + had not + verb 3 (past participle).
(?) Had + subjek + verb 3 (past participle)?
Past Perfect Tense menunjukkan bahwa tindakan yang dilakukan (menyelesaikan pekerjaan dan sarapan) telah terjadi sebelum waktu lain di masa lampau (sebelum tidur dan sebelum kedatangan seseorang).
Penggunaan Past Perfect Tense biasanya digunakan bersama dengan Simple Past Tense untuk menunjukkan urutan kejadian di masa lampau.
