Jenis-Jenis Adjective dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Contoh Kalimatnya

Bobo.id -  Dalam sebuah kalimat, kita biasa menyisipkan kata sifat atau yang disebut adjective dalam bahasa Inggris. 

Adjective adalah kata yang menjelaskan sifat sebuah benda, sehingga adjective ini juga disebut kata sifat.

Misalnya apakah benda itu berbentuk bulat, berbentuk kotak, berwarna hitam, berwarna merah, besar, kecil, dingin, atau panas dan yang lain

Jadi adjective itu menggambarkan sebuah noun (kata benda) dengan memberikan informasi tentang obyek ukuran, bentuk, umur, warna kulit, asal atau bahan.

Jenis-Jenis Adjective dan Contoh Kalimatnya

1. Comparative Adjective

Comparative adjective adalah kata sifat yang membandingkan satu hal dengan hal yang lain.

Contoh kata comparative adjective adalah taller, longer, smaller, cheaper, bigger, happier, dan lain sebagainya.

Contoh kalimat:

- My brother is two years younger than me.

- My friend is 5 cm taller than me.

- This dress is cheaper than the others.

2. Superlative Adjective

Superlative adjective adalah kata sifat dalam bahasa Inggris yang digunakan untuk mengungkapkan tingkatan tertinggi dalam suatu kelompok

Contohnya seperti tallest, highest, longest, shortest, fastest, funniest, dan lain lain.

Contoh Kalimat:

- This new car is the fastest car in town.

- My black cat is the oldest cat I have.

- My friend is the funniest one in our class.

- Semeru is the highest mountain in Java.

3. Possessive Adjective

Posessive adjective digunakan untuk menerangkan siapa yang memiliki/mempunyai suatu benda.

Kata possesive adjective adalah My, Your, His, Her, Its, Our, Your, dan Their.

Contoh kalimat:

- I am her daughter. Mrs. Anna is my mom.

- Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth died at 94.

- They are looking for their lost cat.

- She is our daughter.

4. Common Adjective

Common adjective adalah kata sifat yang murni adjective, atau tidak terbentuk dari unsur apapun.

Contoh common adjective adalah warna dan kondisi, meliputi: black, white, important, happy, sad, strong, special, poor, dan lain lain.

- My father is so strong.

5. Past Participle

Past participle adalah kata kerja Bahasa Inggris ketiga atau verb 3. Contohnya seperti broken, confused, solved, eaten, dan lain lain.

Contoh Kalimat

- My phone is broken.

- The house is sold.

- He asked the confused man.

- Don't eat the spoiled food!

6. Article

Adjective sebagai article adalah 'a', 'an' dan 'the' semuanya ini termasuk bagian dari adjective.

Contoh Kalimat:

- I have a pen and an apple.

- The lion is sleeping. 

- A cat sleeps on the front desk.

- I am going to pick up the cake I ordered.

7. Demonstrative Adjective

Demonstrative adjective adalah adjective yang menunjukkan sesuatu seperti this, that, those, dan these.

Contoh Kalimat:

- Those are my favorite movies.

8. Interrogative Adjective

Interrogative adjective adalah kata tanya seperti what, when, which, who, how, dan lain lain.

Contoh kalimatnya :

- What is your full name?

- Where do you come from?

- How do you go to school?

- Who is your teacher?
