Pada dasarnya, descriptive text adalah teks yang bertujuan menjelaskan, menggambarkan, atau mendeskripsikan sesuatu.

Ciri-ciri descriptive text adalah penggunaan easy tense (tense sehari-hari yang sederhana) dan fokus pada satu objek saja.

Struktur Descriptive Text

Berikut ini adalah struktur descriptive text:

- Identification

Identification (identifikasi) adalah pendahuluan, berupa gambaran umum tentang suatu topik.

- Description

Description (deskripsi) adalah berisi ciri-ciri khusus yang dimiliki benda, tempat, atau bagaimana suatu benda dideskripsikan.

Misalnya sifat-sifat, tampilan fisik, dan hal lain yang kemudian dituliskan dengan spesifik.

Dalam mempelajari descriptive text, kita akan belajar mendeskripsikan orang lain atau describing other people dan mendeskripsikan benda atau describing things.

Example 1: My Mother

My mother is a strong woman. She is a careerwoman but also a good house wife.

She is very cheerful and supportive.

Every morning, my mother wakes up early at 4 AM.

She take a shower and prepare our things in an early morning.

She likes to cook delicious breakfast for my family.

After that, she goes to work in her office at 8 AM and come home at 3 PM for Monday until Friday.

In her free time, my mother does her hobbies, such as gardening and cooking dessert.

Example 2: My Father

My father is a good man. He works in a post office as a manager. My father is a dilligent man. He gets up at 4 AM every morning.

After take a shower, my father sweeps the yard and house floor.

Then, he will eat breakfast that my mother made.

My father goes to his office at 7 AM and come home at 3 PM on Monday until Thursday, he come home at 12 in Friday and Saturday.

In her free time, my father goes jogging and reading book.

Example 3: My Older Sister

I have an older sister. She is five years older than me.

She is a friendly girl and very kind.

My sister is first grade student in a senior high school. She is a model student in her school.

Every morning, she gets up at 4.30 AM and get ready for school.

Her hobby is singing. My sister has beautiful voice and want to be a singer in the future.
